DEAD TASTE is a free FPS project.
It is like a zombie splatter adventure but the main goal is just killing Zombies. Be aggressive or sneak around, it is up to you. Ever driven pigs through a horde of Undead?
Repair your motorhome vehicle and leave the desert town to find a better life.
If you start a "zombie massacre" (keep music playing) you get a lot of cash very quick to buy new guns/ammo. With Dual guns you can kill even more Zombies. Check your todo list to unlock all guns. Search dead Zombies for cash. Buy a silencer to kill and sneak at the same time. Weapons for now: Your mighty foot(melee), wood with nails(melee), Glock, double Glock, Shorty (shotgun), Uzi, double Uzi, MP5, double MP5, Sniper, Winchester Shotgun, M79 grenate launcher(modify for more bullets) and Landmines.
DT was programmed in a low level 3d engine, everything is done from scratch. From gunplay to ragdoll movements. First thing in next update would be the mouse speed...sorry i forgot about...
Iam very proud of the zombie AI, handling lot of npc's. The zombie ragdoll, animation system and how they behave in general (moving, reacting to sounds). The swim and dive movement (map2).
Game was designed to run smooth on old GPU's, no need for a high end gamer pc. In fact the project was created with a GPU from 2008 (tested with 50fps+ ATI Radeon HD4800 in 1024x768 fullscreen). Up to 1920x1200 supported.

First release ever (wip, beta), did my best testing and finding any bugs. For now game ends rough after chapter1-level2 (Pitstop of Death). Before next update/investing more work i wanted to see if anybody will care. Chapter2 was planed with daylight, player starts at night.
Adults (18+) only. Strong violence, bad language, drugs and nudity.

Install instructions
Simply extract the ZIP to any folder of your computer. Run "START.EXE". Game will need NVIDIA PhysX (included) and DirectX9 (or better) installed.

Update in progress...I dont want promise too much, but for now iam working on a complete game "Remaster/Update" for two days. Ill keep guns and zombies but working on a new environment. It will be a Strip Club. You have to protect the girls and guests against Zombie waves attacking the night club. Safe the last dance!

Hey, I seem to be stuck on the ammo screen screen ... I don't see any way to exit.
Sorry to hear that. While testing i did not use the ammo screen very often, its possible some event like a cutscene or something, buged the ammo screen (if stucked means the mouse cursor is invisible). Do u mean the F1 ammo screen or the gunshop? But for both interruption of other functions might be possible.
Sorry, yes it was the gun/ammo shop. I will try again. I was in window mode which was a little hard to control in general, so I will try full screen next.
Hey, the game will not install with the Itch.io desktop app. You need to set it to "windows executable" for that to work...
